One of the highlights of my year is the National Psoriasis Awareness Weak in the Philippines, It starts from October 23, until October 29, which also World Psoriasis Day. (Proclamation No. 179 dated May 30, 2011.) It is a worldwide unity for people living with Psoriasis. It’s primary purpose is to act as a focus for people – patients, doctors, nurses and the general public – to raise awareness of psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis to give people with Psoriasis and/or Psoriatic Arthritis the attention and consideration they deserve. World Psoriasis Day (WPD) is also useful as a channel to encourage health authorities to offer better access to the most appropriate treatments.

This year’s launch was held at Raja Sulayman Park, roxas boulevard, Manila with the funwalk joined by club members of different hospital groups. Aside from Psoriasis patients it was also open for everybody to join. There was also a Parade & short program with a presentation and awarding ceremony.
The registration start time was 6 o’ clock in the morning
The parade starts now! ..
The weather was sunny during the whole day, thank you God!.
The members are divided into Hospital clubs, volunteers, patients, nurses, and doctors.
And many more participants..
I was so happy and inspired with meeting a lot of my fellow “Skin brothers and sisters” during the event. So uplifting to know that we are not alone in our condition.
I am sure that a lot of the people that I met were also like me before joining our group, depressed and felt alone in my suffering.
But thanks to Psoriasis Philippines I was able to overcome my depression as I met people like me who have since inspired me to be active in my advocacy in spreading the message that ” Psoriasis is Not Contagious ” and that we can still live a happy and active life even with Psoriasis.
From numerous awareness campaigns, proving Psorcoaches to give health tips and advice and outreaches to the far provinces or Psorphil Caravan of hope, BMW, Hug-Me-Campaign that has reached so much of our brethren.
His life story was even shared and broadcast nationwide on ABS CBN’s Maalaala mo kaya. I’m sure that this has reached a vast majority of Filipinos to help the campaign.
Last October 1, The episode Maalaala mo kaya, the best drama series in ABS CBN’s the actor JC de Vera portrays Josef De Guzman true to life story of having psoriasis. The drama series gives the audience a close approximation of the symptoms of the disease, as well as conveying the information that Psoriasis isn’t contagious. It was truly an inspiration for other patients as well.
Thank you sir Josef de Guzman to advocate for Filipinos with Psoriasis. To watch the full episode of MMK Golden boy and to know about Psoriasis. This year also marks the launch of a Website and an App called Quality Care. The details of which shall be discussed in our Press Conference on October 26, 2016 Time: 11 am at Max’s Restaurant Orosa – Ermita Branch, Manila.
If you or anybody you know suffers from Psoriasis, you may get in touch with Psoriasis Philippines. I look forward to seeing all of you, my Skin Brothers & Sisters. As we grow in number, so does our support for each other.
Happy World Psoriasis Day!!
